In Jamaica, a country of the Caribbean Islands, a young couple made contact with our website, studied our beliefs, and now both have been preparing for baptism.
This is just one of several similar experiences. We have heard about individuals and families who have become faithful church members after finding the three angels’ messages on the SDARM-GC website. Maybe you know other experiences like the one we just mentioned.
In his letter to young Timothy, Paul gave a special message to wealthy people with the following words: “Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; that they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate” (1 Timothy 6:17, 18).
To the Hebrew Christians, he wrote: “To do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased” (Hebrews 13:16).
Communication is really a vital blessing when used properly and in the right direction. Often a lack of communication or miscommunication causes many problems and even great tragedies.
Before sin, the human race had free communication with heaven. The Creator, the angels, and all the heavenly beings were in regular contact with Adam and Eve. As soon as sin entered our planet, communication between heaven and earth was cut off.
“Without the atonement of the Son of God there could have been no communication of blessing or salvation from God to man. God was jealous for the honor of His law. The transgression of that law had caused a fearful separation between God and man. To Adam in his innocence was granted communion, direct, free, and happy, with his Maker. After his transgression, God would communicate to man only through Christ and angels.”—Conflict and Courage, p. 20.
Through immediate intervention by Christ, that vital communication was restored. We can say that Jesus is the greatest Communicator in the Universe. He is the link between heaven and earth and the true promoter of communication between man and his neighbor.
Heaven places at our reach several means of communication between man and God. And we would do well to take advantage of these divine tools prepared for our happiness.
The Word of God is one of the most important means God uses to talk to us. We should never neglect the regular study of the Bible. Before and after reading the Bible we need to communicate with the Lord through prayer. And the Holy Spirit is always working, as successor of Christ on earth, to promote communication between man and God and between man and his neighbor.
“Oh, what a work is before you! Will you take hold of it in the love and fear of God? Will you put yourselves in communication with God through His Word?”—Child Guidance, p. 506.
When Jacob was fleeing from his elder brother Esau, being alone in the wilderness, with his guilty conscience, God reached him through a vision in which a ladder was presented to him.
“Let us consider this ladder that was presented to Jacob. The human race was cut off from intercourse [communication] with God. They might look at a paradise lost but could see no means of entering it and holding communion with heaven. The sin of Adam cut off all intercourse between heaven and earth. Up to the moment Adam and Eve transgressed God’s law there had been free communion between earth and heaven. They were connected by a path Deity could traverse. But the transgression of God’s law broke up this path, and the human race was separated from God.”—Christ Triumphant, p. 87.
“A communication is opened with heaven through Jesus Christ [so] that the human race, which was fallen, is brought back again into favor with God.”—Ibid., p. 211.
“In our God we have a helper, and we will trust in Him. We must constantly look in that direction, believing that the angels of God are round about us, and that heaven is in communication with us, because these heavenly messengers are ascending and descending upon the ladder of shining brightness.”—Ibid., p. 333.
Good use of communication
If we take advantage of the divine means of communication (the Word of God and prayer) we will use the available means at our reach to do our best to benefit our neighbors.
We must recognize that communication among people today is much more efficient than 30 years ago. Even when we visit some poor regions in the world, we see people using cell phones quite regularly.
Sadly, so many of the modern means of communication are wrongly used, creating more problems than solutions. Yet on the other hand, we need to correctly use these means for the glory of God and to help one another.
“Not one word is to be spoken unadvisedly. No evil speaking, no frivolous talk, no fretful repining or impure suggestion, will escape the lips of him who is following Christ. The apostle Paul, writing by the Holy Spirit, says, ‘Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth’ (Ephesians 4:29). A corrupt communication does not mean only words that are vile. It means any expression contrary to holy principles and pure and undefiled religion. It includes impure hints and covert insinuations of evil. Unless instantly resisted, these lead to great sin.”—Christ’s Object Lessons, p. 337.
“God forbears, for a time, the full execution of the sentence of death pronounced upon man. Satan flattered himself that he had forever broken the link between heaven and earth. But in this he was greatly mistaken and disappointed. The Father had given the world into the hands of His Son for Him to redeem from the curse and the disgrace of Adam's failure and fall. Through Christ alone can man now find access to God. And through Christ alone will the Lord hold communication with man.”—Confrontation, p. 20.
We need to be good communicators. The salvation of souls depends upon the right use of the available means that God has given us. The progress of His work on earth depends on good and regular communication.
May the Lord grant divine wisdom to His people to communicate properly for His glory and the furtherance of His cause!
